Xavier Bories-Azeau has scooped an award for his research work for DuPont Teijin Films (DTF) at The Wilton Centre.
French-born Xavier won the NEPIC Annual Young Achievers Award for 2008 in the Specialities Sector.
Before joining DTF, Xavier received an MSc in organic chemistry at the Lyon School of Chemistry, in Lyon, France, and a DPhil in polymer chemistry from the University of Sussex.
He joined DTF at the beginning of 2004 as a Research Scientist and spent time on projects including the recent photovoltaic developments and a secondment at the company's Research Centre in Gifu, Japan.
Since September 2007 Xavier has also been secretary to the Recent Appointees in Polymer Science committee, which provides young scientists with assistance in forming their own networks and organises an annual meeting with keynote speakers.
Xavier's award is one of five launched by NEPIC to promote the industry as a career choice for those leaving school and to recognise the best young people already working within it.
Dave Wall, Xavier's manager, said: "Xavier has made many contributions to the business during his five years with us and has brought new ideas to DTF at the same time as assimilating many facets of the business and its technology. Winning this award is a great achievement."
