Recruitment specialist TechConsult UK is helping a rapidly-growing pipeline company fulfil a contract on a giant cross-continent gas pipeline.

Pipeline Engineering, of Catterick Bridge, North Yorkshire, has worked for many years in the oil and gas sector, providing expert engineers to work on pipeline projects.

One of its latest projects is a £3m contract to provide engineering services including pig launchers and pig receivers, test heads and pipeline pigs for part of the Nord Stream gas pipeline, which links Russia and the European Union via the Baltic Sea. The pipeline will carry natural gas to businesses and households and is seen as a way of securing the reliability of energy supplies in Europe for years to come.

TechConsult UK Ltd, which provides expert workers within the offshore, fabrication and maintenance, process, shipbuilding, and civil engineering industries, has supported Pipeline Engineering with recruitment services, adding to numerous engineers supplied for other projects during the past two years.

TechConsult UK managing director Steve Guest said: “These are the kind of projects in which we specialise. We have been working with Pipeline Engineering for some time and have provided them with the kind of people that they need to grow their business.

“The people on our books have immense experience on challenging projects such as Nord Stream and that is why companies like Pipeline Engineering come to us.“

Willy Watson, chief executive of Pipeline Engineering Limited, said; “Recruitment of highly skilled workers is our biggest challenge and that is where TechConsult UK has been so useful to us. They understand our business and the technology we use and they also appreciate our recruitment needs.

“To make sure that we maintain that quality, it is crucial that we have highly experienced and skilled people. Nord Stream is an exciting and challenging project and some of the people that Tech Consult UK have provided are involved with this contract.”
