CPI announces expansion into green technologies

November 2008

CPI

The Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) has announced a major expansion of its role helping industry in North East England to become 'greener' with the launch of Renew.

Renew builds on the success of sub-regional support organisation, Renew Tees Valley (RTV), and uses CPI's expertise and assets in low carbon energy to deliver commercial projects that capitalise upon low carbon and environmental technologies.

It will take RTV projects in the Tees Valley through to their completion and is also looking for new ideas.

Renew’s team will work with established and new technology in the fields of energy generation, energy saving, resource reduction, reuse and recycling.

Dr Graham Hillier, director of low carbon energy at CPI, said: "The commercial application of new environmental and low carbon technologies is critical if the region is to further reduce its carbon footprint. Through integrating these new applications across wider industry, energy and material wastage will be reduced. Putting in place a closed loop system, reusing waste product whether material, heat or energy, not only has significant environmental benefits but also provides a sound economic base for businesses to operate on."
