Thanks to fire wardens and first aiders
The Wilton Centre is very fortunate to have a trusted team of fire wardens and first aiders. As a token of appreciation for their assistance and support the centre hosted a barbecue in the summer for the volunteers. Many compliments were paid to the excellent food that was sponsored and served up by Taylor Shaw, The Wilton Centre in house catering provider.
The refurbishment of the coffee points on each floor of R Block is now complete. As a result of building inspections, seven replacement external lamp posts and fittings are being installed. These replacements are more accessible for maintenance and are fitted with energy efficient light fittings.
Energy Conservation Work
Work has begun on the installation of a replacement building management system to the main building heating. This will result in improved temperature control and increased energy efficiency.
In response to tenants' comments, a new projector has been installed to serve the main screen in the Exhibition Area while the original projector now serves the separate meeting room table screen in the same room. This means that the room can accommodate both theatre and board room style layouts without the need for repeatedly changing the tables and seating arrangements.

Around the Centre - Electric vehicle charging points
The contract has been signed to provide two standard charging posts in the Wilton Centre car parks. Each post has two charging outlets capable of charging a vehicle battery to 80% of its capacity in four to eight hours.
Around the Centre - Energy Conservation
Work is now complete on the project to convert the ventilation system in N Block laboratories from fixed flow to variable flow. This follows on from similar projects in T & R Block laboratories that have resulted in significant measured savings of power and heat. Similar work is about to start on E Block and D Block will follow on from there.
Around the Centre - Refurbishment
Work is complete on the improvements to the corners of E/F Blocks on levels two, three and four, with replacement ceilings, lights and carpets as well as redecoration and improvements to the coffee points.
Around the Centre - Traffic Management
Some changes have been made to speed limits at the east side of the building adjacent to the recently opened Innovation Accelerator. These changes will be supported by signs, including an electronic speed warning sign and increased patrols of the area by Building Security.
Around the Centre - Retirement
Richard Short the Wilton Centre Engineering Manager retired at the end of March. Richard has been at Wilton Centre since 1982 and is well known throughout the centre. We all wish Richard and his wife Rosemary a long and happy retirement.
