Five years of achievement

October 2009

October marks the fifth anniversary of LaSalle Investment Management taking over the management of The Wilton Centre on behalf of its new pension fund owners.

The landlord regards The Wilton Centre, one of four science parks owned by the pension fund under its “Science Property Network” brand, as a long-term investment.

That is reflected in a programme to maintain, and where feasible, improve the building and services while keeping control of service costs.

Completed external maintenance has included the replacement of roofs, external decoration, car park and pathway surface replacement and repairs.
Landscaping standards have been improved and more than 200 trees have been planted over the last two years. Internally, corridors, stairwells, toilets and shower rooms have been refurbished, as have the Reception and Exhibition areas.

Less obvious to residents is work carried out in basements and plant rooms to maintain and improve the building services and infrastructure. Tenants are also benefitting from new voice and data services introduced by the landlord over the last 12 months.

A gymnasium is planned for the ground floor of the catering block and there have been extensive improvements to the catering area itself.

The LaSalle on-site team have energy and conservation high on their list of priorities and are developing opportunities for power, steam (heating), water and service gases where significant savings have been made over recent years. Waste recycling opportunities have been progressed resulting in a solid waste recycling rate for the Centre in excess of 40 percent.

Work will shortly commence on the installation of a variable flow ventilation system in R Block identical to that installed in T Block 18 months ago. Intelligent lighting has been installed in toilets and coffee points and high efficiency lighting is installed as part of all refurbishment projects.
