The Instructions and Procedures section of the Wilton Centre website are now security-protected and will require users to log in using a valid username and password, which have been provided to Centre Business Managers. This log in-section will shortly be expanded to incorporate the Wilton Centre SHE performance database. Further developments will follow later this year and will include travel and local hotel information.

Proposed Gymnasium:

Planning permission has been obtained for the proposed Gym. Prices are being sought to carry out the redevelopment work to the ground floor of the restaurant block.

Building Maintenance:

Refurbishment of mess rooms and ladies washrooms in TDA North and South Laboratories is complete and work on the South Laboratory Gents washroom will start shortly. Work is in progress to refurbish G3 and G2 corridors in the main building.

SHE Audit:

Wilton Centre Facilities Management has undergone its annual third party SHE Audit initiated by the building owners. The main theme of the audit, conducted in November last year, was Asbestos Management and Fire Safety Management. The auditors said: “On the whole, the site and areas inspected for asbestos were found to be in good order and the minor number of recommendations in this audit reflect this. The WCFM Management Team was found to be very professional in all areas of asbestos procedures and control.

Recycling:

Last year saw a significant reduction in the amount of waste sent to landfill from The Wilton Centre. In 2007, 27% of solid waste generated was sent for recycling, this increased to 41% last year.
